An award-winning design focused on delivering a therapeutic environment that can, and does, aid recovery
The Ballarat Base Hospital Acute Mental Health Facility was renovated and expanded to maintain the existing number of beds but provide a warm, light filled, welcoming facility with large open spaces for activity and leisure. A new entrance with an open timber fence allows the facility to portray an open and engaging presence to the wider community and the architecture creates inviting, domestic scaled spaces: patient security and amenity increased through private bathrooms and large windows with views into courtyards.
