BLP led a consultant team in the preparation of a masterplan for the 350 hectare site of Essendon Airport that will guide future development and redevelopment.
The team included the Guzzardo Partnership Landscape Architects from San Francisco, traffic, civil, and environmental engineers, aviation and marketing consultants. Broad issues addressed included the airport’s future needs, opportunities for new development, traffic, and environmental issues.
Bulla Road precinct has a retail focus with a particular proposal for a major direct-to-market factory outlet and bulky goods development. English Street precinct (the historical entry to Essendon Airport) has an office, showroom/warehouse and mixed-use focus that can complement the existing aviation uses. New landscaped boulevards and village centre will change the image of the precinct as a place of work. Heritage Buildings have been retained and are focusing key parts of the Village precinct.
