Billard Leece Partnership and Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Architects in Association, designed the Susan Wakil Health Building after joining forces to win a design competition. Scheduled to open in 2021, the 21,500sqm building brings together the University of Sydney’s Central Clinical School, Sydney Nursing School, Sydney School of Health Sciences, and components of the Faculty of Medicine and Health into one health precinct – a move at the forefront of innovation, learning and policy.
The design response informed a collaborative research building, with agile environments for multidisciplinary teaching and learning across all health disciplines. It will provide state-of-the-art clinical simulation programs, a multi-service clinic, and flexible infrastructure that supports team-based research programs.
