A consistent urban form and streetscape was a key guiding principle for the project
Planned as the successful 2006 Commonwealth Games Village, housing 6,000 athletes and officials, the long term future of the site was for a mix of public and private housing. By 2015 Parkville Gardens will comprise approximately 1,000 housing units, with 30 per cent social housing dwellings. It includes a mix of detached houses, studios, townhouses, apartments, approximately 100-bed aged care facility, child care centre, and community facilities.
