The largest private and largest not-for-profit hospital located in Wahroonga.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at SAH provides care to critically ill medical and surgical patients. BLP was chosen to fit out the unit as it underwent expansion from a 12 bed to a 30 bed state of the art unit. The ICU is divided into two pods; an Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Unit with specific requirements. Rooms were standardised as much as possible so that staff can easily move between pods.
BLP worked closely with key stakeholders to ensure design outcomes facilitated contemporary and best practice for care of the patients, including maximising sight lines to the patients, improving staff efficiencies, whilst using large glazed doors and windows for provision of patient privacy; ensuring enough space for storage to achieve an uncluttered work environment; access to natural light and views for both patients and staff, and; breakout spaces for family providing an amenity focusing on ‘time-out’.
