BLP is pleased to announce Shane Wood as its National Education Sector Leader. Shane joins BLP’s well-established team of education specialists to lead major projects within this sector.
With 17-years’ architectural experience, Shane brings an impressive portfolio of educational projects, including new as well as adaptive reuse of facilities.
His work emphasises a passion for sustainability, with a clear focus on the physical, financial and social environments that impact education facilities. His innovative design approach stems from a drive to understand and assist clients with new approaches to pedagogy, creating spaces that draw together teaching and learning aspirations and student outcomes.
“I believe the student must be placed at the centre of the design solution. Students and teachers are important co-designers of the architecture of their buildings,” says Shane.
Based in BLP’s Sydney studio, Shane’s skills and expertise strengthen BLP’s comprehensive and high quality service offering in the education sector, across a range of project sizes and typologies.
Shane is an active advocate of innovation through research in the sector, having recently completed a Study Tour of schools and university facilities in countries across Scandinavia. He regularly attends education conferences; he prepared and presented a paper at the 2015 TEMC conference on ‘The Integrated Vocational and Higher Education Precinct: Improving Performance Through a Consolidated Built Environment’.
