BLP may have only physically moved its Sydney workplace around the corner to the top floor of 72-80 Cooper Street in Surry Hills, however the new space with 180-degree views across Sydney’s cityscape is part of the practice’s continual evolution, exemplifying BLP’s future-focused vision and commitment toward sustainable practice growth.
The studio is an expansive space filled with natural light, wrap-around windows and ceiling voids, transformed into a workplace optimised for collaboration, innovation and agility.
The existing polished concrete floorplate and white ceilings and walls have been divided into various zones to facilitate teamwork, collaboration, focus and creativity, with high contrast accents in charcoal and blonde timber creating an elegant and linear aesthetic that provides a consistent brand message with BLP’s recently relocated Melbourne Studio.
The studio is centred around a ‘townhall’ – an open space that provides a collaborative space for teams, is client-facing and is a central hub for team gatherings and workshops.
Informal meeting spaces are interspersed between workpoints, with high-backed felt booths, standing height tables and maker space zones catering to various team collaboration requirements, and arranged to facilitate spontaneous communication.
The space is adaptive to accommodate flexing teams working together in project specific hubs. True to BLP values, the integrated space-planning discourages a sense of hierarchy and provides connectivity across the studio.
An expansive rooftop terrace with uninterrupted views of the city is fully WIFI enabled and equipped for teams to work outdoors, and is another flexible-use space for events, workshops and informal meetings.
